Dr. Bo Qin is a Professor and the Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Management, School of Public Administration and Policy, Renmin University of China. Professor Bo Qin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with specialization in urban planning from the Department of Architecture at Wuhan University in 2000. He also obtained a Master of Science in Human Geography from the Department of Urban and Environment Studies at Peking University in 2003, and a Ph.D. from the School of Design and Environment at the National University of Singapore in 2007.

His research interests include urban internal spatial structure, urban sustainable development and cities in transitional economy. Recently his research focus includes spatial planning for healthy cities and urban governance theories. He has published more than 60 articles in international and Chinese academic journals on urban planning and urban studies. He has authored and co-authored four books, and co-edited five books.

Professor Bo Qin has been collaborating with scholars worldwide, with support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Australia Research Council, Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, and other agencies. Currently he serves as editorial board member for the journals of Urban Affair Review and Environment and Urbanization, Asia (SAGE).
