David H. Hall Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, USA
David H. Hall Ph.D. is a professor of neuroscience at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from M.I.T. and his Ph.D. in Biology at California Institute of Technology.
Dr. Hall has studied the detailed anatomy of the model animal Caenorhabditis elegans (a nematode) using electron microscopy for over 30 years. He is the co-author of the C. elegans Atlas, a book that describes every cell type in the animal in detail.
Hall is the Director of the C. elegans Anatomy Center at Einstein. Hall’s laboratory specializes in ultrastructural studies of the nervous system. They use serial thin sections, electron microscopy, and immunocytochemistry as primary tools to follow the development of identified neurons, particularly their axon outgrowth and synaptic connectivity. The NIH Division of Research Resources has funded the Center since 1998.
