Dr. Darren Norris Universidade Federal do Amapa, Brazil

Dr. Norris is the Editor in Chief of Tropical Conservation Science. He has an eclectic background, and when not involved with TCS he has pooper-scooped reindeer in the Arctic Island of Spitsbergen, chased monkeys from high (4000m cloud forest, Mount Elgon Uganda) to low (Diani Beach, Kenya), hopped across forest fragments in Mato Grosso, Brazil and stumbled across the Serra do Mar mountain chain in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Darren has now settled on the equator, where he looks to apply conservation science in the most protected Brazilian State - Amapá. His work at the Federal University of Amapá focuses on the conservation of biodiversity and traditional livelihoods around waterways that traverse political (national and international), cultural and ecological boundaries.
