Marie-Chanel Berghan University of Auckland, New Zealand
Marie-Chanel Berghan is the Business and Publications Manager of Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga responsible for managing financial, contract and operations (physical resources and infrastructure). She is also specialist lead for key events focused on delivering the strategic programme for New Zealand’s Māori Centre of Research Excellence at a national and international level as well as managing the academic journal publications AlterNative: An International Journal of Indigenous Peoples and MAI Journal: A New Zealand Journal of Indigenous Scholarship.
Marie-Chanel is an experienced and recognised leader in Business, Project and Event Management; her interests in business management with a focus on cross-cultural leadership and relationship models have supported her in various senior roles. Prior to joining the centre she was the Whakapiki Ake Project Manager at The University of Auckland’s Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences for five years and the New Zealand Project Administration Manager at Hewlett Packard, Auckland.
Marie-Chanel has a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and in Māori Development from the University of Auckland and is an appointed member of the University of Auckland Human Participants Ethics Committee.
Marie-Chanel’s diverse background enables her to build and maintain robust relationships and to serve our local, national and international communities.
