Mary P. Corcoran Maynooth University, Ireland

Mary P. Corcoran is Professor of Sociology at Maynooth University.  Her research and teaching interests lie primarily in the fields of urban sociology, public cultures and the sociology of migration, areas in which she has published widely.  Her most recent book was a co-edited  anthology on Producing Knowledge, Reproducing Gender: Power, production and practice in Ireland published in 2020 by UCD Press.   She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and of Columbia University, New York where she completed her doctorate in 1991. Mary is fully committed to engaged research and has partnered with many civil society and community organisations over the years to produce evidence-based research that has important implications for policy and practice. She currently serves as a Director on the Citizens Information Board, the Institute for Public Health and the Liberties Community Development Project. Her Mary’s research has been cited in many media outlets, including the Irish Times, The Irish Independent, The Irish Examiner, the Sunday Business Post, The Sunday Times, The New York Times, the Washington Post and the International Herald Tribune, BBC News magazine, Marianne (Paris).  She has been a regular contributor to print and broadcast and digital media over the years.
