Dr. Nasir Javed is an ex Pakistan Civil Servant with more than 30 years of administrative experience in various public sector organizations, mostly in the urban sector. Having a diverse knowledge base, with an MBA from the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK, as a Chevening Scholar; while previously holding degrees in Medicine, Psychiatry and Law, has an equally diverse experience of civil service and consultancy.In last twenty three years of his career he has exclusively worked in the urban sector which resulted in establishment of The Urban Unit, a state of the art think tank & consultancy firm, within the public sector. While heading the Unit, he was Project Director for two World Bank funded urban sector projects, one ADB funded project, one USAID Municipal services project and two JICA funded urban sector projects, including setting up Al Jazari Water & Sanitation Academy at WASA Lahore. Prior to this, he has worked for over four years as a consultant to ADB, USAID, UNICEF and others, on projects relating to urban sector, and especially water and sanitation.
Dr Javed has been a member of the Cities That Work council of the IGC; is a Syndicate member of the prestigious UET Lahore; a member of the editorial board of SAGE Journal, ‘Environment & Urbanization Asia’, and has authored a number of conference papers & book chapters in the urban sector. His specialization is in Institutional Development of cities and municipal services.
