Stephanie Bohon is Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Tennessee and founder of the Center for the Study of Social Justice. She’s also an Economic and Community Development Fellow at the Howard H. Baker Center for Public Policy. She holds degrees in economics, political science, sociology, and demography, including a doctorate in demography and sociology from Penn State. Her work on nativism and racism in the labor market, housing, and transportation and her work on immigration to the US South has been published in several articles and two books: Latinos in Ethnic Enclaves and Immigration and Population.
Stephanie’s work has also been reported by national and international media including Time Magazine, National Public Radio, BBC-London, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Chicago Sun-Times, and USA Today. She is a Past-President of the Southern Sociological Society and the Southern Demographic Association. She has also served as the Executive Officer for the Southern Sociological Society and on the board of the American Sociological Association. She, along with Bridget Gorman, was the first woman to edit the journal Population Research and Policy Review and she currently serves on the editorial board of several other journals.
