Victoria Reyes University of California-Riverside, University of California - Riverside, USA

Victoria Reyes is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at Princeton University. In January 2015, she will be starting as an Assistant Professor in the Growth and Structure of Cities Department at Bryn Mawr College. Her interests include globalization, intersections of inequality, economic sociology, cultural sociology, space and place, borders and boundaries, law and society, and urban sociology, and revolve around the question ‘What happens when actors (individuals, countries) of different nationalities, races/ethnicities, genders, and classes interact?’ Her work has examined the structure of globalized travel, the creation of cultural wealth, and what she calls ‘global borderlands’—semi-autonomous, geographic locations where international exchange occurs. She has received funding from the Institute for International Education and the National Science Foundation and her research has been published in International Journal of Comparative Sociology.
