Open access and publishing fees

Sage supports a range of publishing options. Find out more about the available options on the Sage website.

There are no fees to pay if you are submitting or publishing in a ‘hybrid’ journal (predominantly subscription-based).

If you have color figures these will be published in color in the online version of the journal at no cost. If you wish to have color figures in the printed version, a fee will apply: see the journal’s submission guidelines for details.

During peer review

What happens during peer review?

Your manuscript will undergo an initial evaluation to check that it conforms to the submission requirements. If it doesn’t, it will be returned to you for amendments prior to peer review. Manuscripts may be desk rejected without peer review at this point if they are out of scope for the journal or otherwise unsuitable.

Taking Action on Diversity

Some steps editors can take to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within their journals

Introduction

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is something that we care deeply about at Sage. We are aware that the publishing industry, including Sage, has much more work to do in order to better reflect the diversity of the world we seek to educate and inform. Our core Sage Journals DEI pledges are published here.
