Designing and Managing Your Research Project includes lots of examples, case studies and practical exercises to help you learn the research skills you will need and also to help you complete crucial project tasks. A key feature is its user-friendly guidance on planning projects and accessing information from the Internet.
This book relates to social and healthcare research situations in the main, however some chapters can be generally applied; it was of particular use and interest when studying the ethical implications of research and has a very good section on Literature Reviews and research design. I used the book as a classroom resource on occasion to broaden the students learning.
A few students found it quite complex in parts but a couple of students borrowed it from me for the Ethics and Literature review sections which they found helpful!
A valuable supplement to the main textbooks on Science theory, research ethics and research methods in the course. Adds overview of the research process as well as practical guidance.
Very clear and easy book for students who have never conducted research before. Simple and easy read for newcomers.
Very interesting book, hits the level needed for these students well, and is right on topic.
This is a very user friendly text and a useful addition to our module reading list. What I particularly like for students is the chapter on research ethics and the sections that give students some focus on the future such as working with others and careers. These sections give the book an added employability dimension.
Useful additional reading book for MA and MBA management students
The value of this text is its anticipation that the research activity of the student will continue beyond formal education.
Beginning with research practice as part of a postgraduate programme of study, the book moves through the skills needed to successfully design and implement a research project.
This book assumes that research will continue beyond University and provides a series of useful 'transition' suggestions. For example, to guidelines to costing research projects are likely to prove very useful for the newly qualified field-researcher.
The book is clearly oriented toward graduate students. I like the overall theme of the book, and it is a wonderful introduction to graduate-level research projects (especially those that involve funding), but it is too advanced for my undergraduates.
this book is useful for the students on the degree programme and has been added to the recommended list.
A useful book for those studying social sciences at advanced levels with a wealth of useful and practical guidance.
