Zhongdang Pan University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA
Zhongdang Pan is a professor in the Department of Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. He conducts research on political communication and China’s media and social changes. He teaches courses on media effects, political communication, communication theory, and research methods. His previously published meta-analysis is on the “third-person effect.” This is an idea that when encountering negative media content, people tend to see it having greater effects on others than on themselves and as a result, be more willing to support restricting such content. In the meta-analysis, he and his co-authors analyzed 106 published studies over a 30-year timespan. The report was published in the Journal of Communication.
